AFTERNOON SCHEDULE
12:30 - 12:45 Children arrive to school and hang-up belongings. All students use the restroom and wash hands.
12:45 - 1:10 Students play together on the circle rug with toys selected by me. Each students is then called to the table by me to work 1-on-1 on a handwriting skill at their level. Ms. Nan, the classroom aide, will also be working 1-on-1 with each student on naming colors and oral counting. These 1-on-1 activities change throughout the school year varying on student progress and skill level.
1:10 - 1:45 Circle Time. Students will learn about months of the year, days of the week, seasons, and personal information, such as; stating full name, age, sex, address, and phone number. We also cover letter recognition, stating letter sounds, number recognition, counting quantities, and shape recognition during this time. During this time I will also teach about a theme selected by me. Please see the yearly curriculum tab for more information.
1:45 - 2:00 Music and Movement. Students will work on moving their bodies. We practice jumping, hopping, bear crawls, crab walks, galloping, skipping, and much more.
2:00 - 2:45 Center Time. Students get free choice to play in the classroom. During this time I will call them to the table to work on a specific skills or an art project. Throughout the school year, each 4 and 5 year old child will also participate in a research based program called Stepping Stones to Literacy with Ms. Nan. Again, we strive to give as much 1-on-1 time to each child to optimize student growth. Activities are fluid and change as each child's skill level changes.
2:45 - 2:55 Snack. We ask that parents provide a snack once per month for the students.
2:55 - 3:00 We will assist each child preparing all belongings to go home. This includes learning how to put on/take off jackets and book bags and zipping. Dismiss
